The mature man above displays advanced style in classic menswear. Garments are soft, colour combinations are unusual, you have brown sneakers. It all turns out very well. The sartorial foundation of jacket, shirt and tie gives a framework.

I will hightlight the long pointed collar and the pairing of muted sage green trousers and a red foulard tie. Moreover, the cut of the garments is just very precise and deliberate in every way.

Perhaps the Italian gentleman above has more fun. He is playing with style components, although not in a garish Pitti Uomo peacock way. Maybe the red shade of the loafers is a bit too much.

The suit is made up from a Zegna Solaro, he told me. It is lighter in weight and more saturated than the classic Smith Woolens Solaro.

If you follow classic menswear on the web, you will probably have noticed the shop The Armoury, and, perhaps, their founders, which also bought the venerable English tie-maker Drakes a few years back. Both The Armoury and Drakes sell sartorial ready-to-wear online. They have offline shops in Hong Kong, London and New York too. I imagine these shops are for show and visiting artisans mainly. I could be wrong though.

The Armoury guys dress well in my opinion. They subscribe to classic style with traces of smart casual style and heritage style. Mark Cho above sported pop-over shirt and summer cap one day in Pitti Uomo.

At Pitti Uomo business and pleasure mix. Take for instance the Pitti Uomo parties. Every afternoon and evening different people invite to a drink and a trunk show.

This time I attended an event arranged by Holland & Sherry, Stefano Bemer and Simon Crompton of Permanent Style. It took place in the impressive palace like Bemer shop on Via di S. Niccolò. The event started out with a discussion on the state of bespoke tailoring. Six young tailors from Europe and Asia participated. Simon moderated the discussion.

Later people could have a chat in street outside the shop.

After the visit at Bemer’s shop I walked downtown with a group of people to an old style apartment, where Ignatious Joseph, the shirtmaker, threw a party.

Butler, whom many online sartorialists will know, was there entertaining the whole company of people with close-up magician tricks.
