Most people, who are interested in fine shoes have heard about John Lobb. Many will also be able to mention Cleverley. Less people know Foster & Son, even though they are placed on the same level as John Lobb and Cleverley. In fact, their lastmaker Terry Moore is regarded by some connoisseurs as the world’s best lastmaker.
Not long ago I paid them a visit in the Jermyn Street store, which also contains a workshop on first floor. The owner Richard Edgecliffe-Johnson showed me around.

Bespoke tailors are almost extinct in Denmark. However, we do find a couple in Copenhagen, Peter Undén and Bent Wennerwald, who are capable of creating a classic suit from scratch.
Above some shots from a bespoke proces at Peter Undén’s workshop. The cloth is from The London Lounge Cloth Club.

Don’t forget the original Caraceni, if you are in Rome. It is run by Tommy og Giulio Caraceni, the nephews of the Caraceni founder Domenico Caraceni. Both Tommy and Giulio are in the 80s now.
Carlo Tonini, head cutter along with Guido Sinigaglia, was there, when I visted the workshop one early morning. He showed me around. Like A. Caraceni in Milano, Caraceni in Rome does bespoke only.
