(Click here, if you cannot watch the video How to fold a suit jacket)
In times of old gentleman were travelling with large suitcases. Today a trolley or a duffel bag is enough usually. Travel light has become the standard way of boarding a flight.
The art of how to fold a jacket
A side effect is that you have to pack with care. “How to fold a jacket” has become an art.
When speaking of a jacket I mean a suit jacket or a sport coat. Those garments have a canvas interlining, and the shoulders will have a structure of a sort. So you cannot just drop it in the suitcase like you can with a jersey. Not that I expect that you would just drop your jersey but it wouldn’t harm a knit garment much.
For non-fused jackets and fused jackets
The method I have of how to fold a jacket I have from an old Italian tailor. The main goal for him is to protect the handstitched canvas interlining and chest piece in a bespoke jacket. He also cares about the shoulders. I suppose the method is valid for fused suit jackets and sport coats as well.

Many thanks. Have been looking for a proper folding method for years. This seems to hit the nail right on the head.

It’s that easy? I’m impressed. Thanx, as I’m headed for Europe in a week, I’ll need this.
